Say for instance you had knowlege that a certain taco sauce was toxic. Not only did you you know this due to the fact that you had previously worked with the makers of this toxic taco sauce, but also heard them laugh about it, witnessed first hand its expanding distribution, and seen the horrible sickness and death that would plague all who ate it. Would you have an ethical obligation to inform those who were buying this toxic taco sauce, or might it be better to sit back arms folded resigned to watch consumers turn green and drop dead?

I'd tell them to stop smoking

Kill them all and let God sort them out. Duh!

I'd notify some authority or media about the issue.

that's an easy one. how could anyone sit back and watch people die? i feel obligated to warn people that aspartame (found in diet soda and other diet foods/drinks) put holes in the brains of the subjects they tested it on even though i don't think it actually killed anyone

aren't most morality questions supposed to propose some kind of dilema??

Well, it could be the case that being the position to prevent pain does not imply a moral need to do anything. I tend to operate under the principle that causing harm is bad, doing nothing is neutral, and preventing harm is good. I don't think the fact that a group of people can benefit from my actions automatically puts me in their service.

Now, lets say you do in fact work for this company selling toxic taco sauce. Then, I might suggest you are in some way complicit because you are benefiting from the selling of the deadly condiment. thus, while I wouldn't say you are fully responsible, you are more responsible giving you a greater moral obligation.

If you've already seen the effects on the populace, it would be fairly easy to warn people. Just connect the dots.

Thank you for your encouragement

I will continue to spread the word, even in
the face of the ignorant who refuse the truth
and call me horrible things like "racist" and
"xenophobe". I know of the plot to change the
map and replace in America, all other sauces
with vile verde. Soon too will everyone else
whether they hablo or not for I will not fold like
a taco.. nay, with the flag in one hand and a
pistol in the other I will point at the devil and
denounce him as such. Hear me my brothers
and sisters, my fellow patriots..

EVIL IS AT HAND!! !! !! !

don't rush into it
greed is bad but not when it's used against greedy people
get as much evidence as you can to blackmail the people profiting
collect a huge percent of their gain up front all at once
move somewhere else and send anonymous letters with evidence material to multiple media outlets

i will call that logical ethics 8)

Ditto. I can't sit back and watch people poison themselves... and believe me, there are plenty of things out there on the market that do just that.

(Zendell - Aspartame has actually killed people... lots of them...
