Maybe you're looking into this all a bit too deeply. They might have just liked talking about dogs.

I hate show offs.

i don't like big men or big dogs. they are both hairy and smelly.

They act like that because they want to show people how smart they are. They are better off doing it by interaction.

I get really worked up about it sometimes when the things discussed make no sense to me, car size, gun size, house size, etc. BUT when treated for depression there were people doing the same thing regarding their meds, others compared illness. Maybe we're just tuned out.

This is related to the male version of the mate selection algorithm.
Hopefully the human species will grow out of this pathetic activity soon.

You are reading into this way too deeply. It's just big dogs, and they like talking about them, who cares.

Sounds like jealousy to me. Dont worry this is a natural human emotion but not really something we should be encouraging in ourselves if we want to grow as people.
