French, German - studied at sochool and university
Latin at school - loved it
Italian - self taught, don't know much vocabulary but I love speaking it. My normal voice is quite monotone, but I have no problem going "into character" with all the etmphatic intonation
Been learning Chinese for a few years, totally new experience, learning the characters is amazing, I can see them in my head. Take a lot of persistence though but I am so determined with it at the moment, even though it can drain your mental energy. You do get some strange looks in public when you are heard muttering Chinese phrases under your breath.
Bits of Japanese, Spanish
I can read a lot of Dutch, not learned it but it's similar to German.
When I was still at School I bought a course on Scots Gaelic, but all I can remember in Gaelic is
"Who is signing at the Ceilidh tonight ?" Not sure how often the need to say that would crop up.

At School I realised it's the sound of language which gets me going. But it also taking on a persona in a way

I'm Canadian French, I'm not fluent with english speaking but I read it a lot.

Besides English, I speak Hebrew.

natively spanish and english.
i am learning german, latin and italian.
I can read portuguese... but i can just half speak it (and i don't have a gret vovabulary)
i want to learn finnish, chinese, russian and french.

I speak school level French but I have forgotten most of it since leaving.

natively French

I can speak, read, and write English, French, and Latin, and I can say random words and sentences in German, Finnish, Spanish, and Italian. I can also read the Greek alphabet (meaning that I know what sounds the letters make).

Languages are my THING.

I speak Japanese and German, a bit of French and Finnish, some ASL, and lately I'm working on learning Russian.

Spanish, a bit of French, and poor German.

I am learning Italian, because I want to live in Rome when I'm older.

I have also picked up some random words in French, Spanish, Romanian, Russian and Turkish. The French is from school, the Turkish is from when I went on holiday there, and the others are from listening to songs in those languages.

I can speak : German, French, Danish, a bit of Britton.
I can understand : Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, more or less Latin & ancient Greek.

Funny thing, I have no idea of how I got to understand those. I only read texts and realized I understood. It is practical, I have to say ^^ but I would like to learn them properly when I am done with mastering Danish.

Other then English, I speak Spanish and Russian.

Am native English speaker. University major in Modern Greek (speak, read, write): Italian speak, read , write: French school level, German speak enough to get by, can read and write some; Spanish, speak little, can read more; Brazilian Portuguese understand more than I can speak, can make some sense of the written word; minimal Turkish and greetings in Irish, Egyptian Arabic and Bahasa.
Am really very curious about different cultures and find their spirit resides in their language. I guess that is why when Imperial Britain conquered the Celtc countries, India and others the indigenous peoples were forbidden to speak their own language.
I agree that in English speaking countries it isn't cool to admit to speaking other lingoes, ( Aussie for langauges) not too sure why........!
