No mention of Guns N Roses? I used to be a huge fan, and saw them in concert in 1993. 8)

Velvet Revolver broke up and STP are reuniting.

^ My buddy saw STP perform in Ohio last week, with Scott Weiland leading. He said they were still awesome. 8)

The Goo Goo Dolls! They were never super-popular, but the music they made in the 90s was phenomenal. I highly recommend:

"Iris"
"Name"
"Black Balloon"
"Sympathy"

I didn’t really listen to much music in the 90s but I remember being fond of “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” by the Smashing Pumpkins when it first came out.

Whenever I was feeling frustrated / overwhelmed I would play that song over and over again inside my head. "Despiiiiite all my rage I am still justa' rat in a cage!! !" :P

This is cool, SDRE and Texas is the Reason were emo before emo was a dirty word.

Same age as the topic starter :)

Some quality indie music from bands starting in the nineties or growing to popularity in the nineties (most still active today though):

Placebo
Manic Street Preachers (phenomenal lyrics!)
Live
Marilyn Manson
Tool
Goo Goo Dolls
The Offspring
Rammstein
Army of Lovers 8)
Live

Those are just the ones I listen(ed) to myself and which I recall very well. Also, although their peak of popularity came in the new millennium, the earliest Muse record was from the late nineties.

But the nineties were more than that. Eurodance was very popular and contrary to current days the dance music was actually good. Maybe these are guilty pleasures but I still think back on my relatively worryless youth years whenever I heart this music, so it still makes me smile.

Erasure
Ace of Base (my favourites  )
Whigfield
Captain Jack
Scatman John
Me & My
Faithless
Guru Josh
Vengaboys

Ah, those were the days... :P Good music pretty much died in the last years of the nineties and music turned into a product rather than an art.
