Just wondering if anybody here has seen Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos' series. I'm gonna have it on DVD soon.

What did you guys (who have seen it) think of it?

I grew up watching it, had paradoxical reactions-of both boredom & fascination (how I feel about many things today, too). Was entranced by the computer graphics (such as they were) of the "spaceship" flight deck & window out onto the imagined cosmos (with those neat splinkle-y fuzzy blobs in the ethereal astronomical space). Was very much into the music (intro/outro of episode), too-it stuck with me, was almost my favorite part/feature. I was interested in things long before I could actually understand them, so Cosmos was one of those things-later in life I could consciously make much more sense of such materials.

I have an extremely high regard for Carl Sagan and his equally able daughter. He writes very well.

I loved this series! I wasn't even born when it was originally filmed, but I've managed to see it all thanks to the Internet. It's a great series, and I love how he can make such wide scope concepts easily understandable for everyone. If you've not seen the most recent dvd versions, there are short 'cosmos updates' from the 90s at the end of most episodes with more up to date info which just adds to it, seeing how the predictions came true, with things like extra-solar planets.

I liked the selection of music he used. FWIW, the main theme was from "Heaven and Hell" by Vangelis.

I had high regard for Carl Sagan until the "butt-headed astronomer" thing happened.
