An interesting story I found this morning, about Facebook going open source, would this be a possible direction for WP and a lot of similar forums? Not that I am a fanboy of Facebook, its a pointless waste of time, which I am considering leaving.

You are not comparing like with like. phpBB is the forum software used on on wrong planet. It is open source anyone could use it, and adapt it.

What I believe they are saying is having the proprietary software of facebook to be open source so that people can use it for their own social networking sites and people that develop facebook applications would be able to do so for third party sites as well.

Ya thats what I was getting at, I am just curious if this was a future possibility with forums
gradually being replaced with an open source social networking in a facebook format.
