There's a difference between friendly advice and pointless personal attacks, and I hope everyone will keep the the Terms of Service in mind when posting.

Is it possible for a moderator to correct the topic title, though? It makes me squirm (and not in a pleasant way) every time I look at it.

I don't care if you're dyslexic. On message boards, your intelligence is measured by how well you write or type.

Don't like it? Tough.

For the literate ones? Yes.

And please note that I didn't call the author an idiot; I suggested that she shouldn't type like one. Big difference.

I despise rudeness far more than any slight inconvenience of dyslexia or other abnormalities in spelling. fiona is a valued member of WP and this thread is a query for advice.

If you can't say anything nice or neutral, then DON'T POST. Unless you just particularly like picking fights. If that's the case, I wouldn't expect to last on this forum for very long or at least to receive any friendly return posts.

I second ghotistix: SEE TERMS OF SERVICE.

BTW, I happen to be literate. Don't speak for me, thank you. I don't share your pessimism.

That's funny, since you're trying to pick a fight with me.

And if you think that I won't last very long here for how I portray myself, you're really full of it.

Whatever. *yawn* I'm standing up for fiona who I happen to like. I wouldn't waste my time on you otherwise.

Complain to the mods about her writing if you think they'll actually listen.

That's fine, because I couldn't really care less at what you think either -- you're a username, nothing more.

So please go away? KTHXBAI.

But hey, insulting NTs is okay on these kind of boards, but I can't insult those who can't type? Lmao...

Oh, the hypocrisy.

...

I'm done.

Bashing NTs isn't okay either.

Okay, I'm done. Moving on.

I am also literate. I detest laziness in spelling, grammar and punctuation.
However, dyslexia is NOT LAZINESS. It results from the way one's brain is wired.

No, it's really annoying. It doesn't make sense that dyslexics use message boards as a form of communication on the internet -- it's a paradox!

If she can get her meaning across, who are you to deny her the right to communicate?

My personal opinion is that insulting no one is okay. Being NT is also caused by brain wiring.

I agree with DrizzleMan. We should be more understanding of differences if we expect it back. Text speak annoys me a little but anybody could be born dyslexic so who has the right to deny them access to forums or bully them out of them?

Asperger's syndrome can be misdiagnosed as (or comorbid with) the following things, I would imagine, (the inverse may also be true):

  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, predominantly inattentive type
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Schizoid personality disorder
  • Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder
  • Avoidant personality disorder
  • Simple or residual schizophrenia
  • Selective mutism
  • Social phobia, generalized type
  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Major depressive episode
  • Dysthymia
