We are having the exact same issue with my son. We are going to try Sylvan's, but I don't feel hopeful. It does not seem to be a problem with understanding the writing process but with idea generation and brainstorming. Could you share some of the other symptoms that you see? Maybe not related to writing?
We too, are not sure he is on the spectrum. In fact, we went to the specialist at Children's, and she thought he was too mild to diagnosis, although we are going back today. My son also 14 has many traits of AS, and I bounce back and forth thinking yes or not really.
Now a Psychiatrist thinks it may be schizoaffective disorder, but I really don't think that fits. He looked at two things. One is the thinking problems you describe and decided it could be disorganized thinking and the second is that my son gets quiet and flat at times and decided that is a mood problem. But the rest seems a huge stretch.
I read extensively and don't agree. What types of evaluations have you had done?
