Me, Christian, and Leah went to the Art Car parade last weekend. I have some pics and vids here:

I live 1 hr and 45 min from downtown Houston. I didn't know about that car parade! It looks like a lot of fun... I'll try to go to it next year. Is it held the same weekend every year?

Yeah, I believe it's the same weekend or at least a weekend in May. If you go next year, I recommend using sunblock, bringing a chair and refreshments heh Event parking ranges from $6-$15 a day depnding on where you park :?

My Houston/Montrose spots are Poison Girl, Catbirds, Cecil's (once in a while), and West Gray Cafe. Lately, I've been going to Denny's on Bay Area Blvd in Clear Lake for coffee and Scrabble. I live in Pasadena, but I don't hang out here.

I used to hang out at Cecil's a bit a long time ago..way back before that fire. The main reason was that my best friend was one of the door guys. I have no reason really for going back there now.

Poison Girl is a neat place. I like the art..but it is a tad crowded and hipster-y for me, and makes me nervous.
I sorta like Boondocks because they have a photo booth and I saw Little Joe Washington there once and they have cheap beer and um...once I had the odd experience of being recognized from WP by some girl in the bathroom...But I don't exactly hang out there. I briefly lived down the street from it..and Catbirds...which I mainly like for the trivia and music...

I miss the old Biba's on West Gray.

Yeah, it's hipster, but Robin is a fun bartender, and they serve Lucid Absinthe there.

I couldn't do Boondocks. Too loud for me.

Yes, indeed. I was a regular for many years. At least Brigit and KK still work at the new location. They're the best.

That guy... when I'd come up there I'd bring my computer, and he'd say, "always with your f*****g computer.." haha.. He's awesome.

I'm actually going to Poison Girl tonight, and possibly Catbirds. Ciao for now.

Let's see...my favorite catch phrase is "You pissa me off"..I forget the context..He might have been referring to when I was a little kid.....When I was little, he worked at a resturaunt on Tuam called Zorba the Greek...I still have vivid memories of that place...the smell of the bread was amazing, and there was a boat on the ceiling and a dwarf was frequently seated at the bar(at least in my memory)...but apparently I was a "Troublemaker" and "Pissa-ed" John off
Lately it has been "Where you been?..you never change..and you never will"

oh yeah..and "Stay out of trouble"
