My son loves Boohbah and Teletubbies, but the only ones I really tolerate watching are Curious George and Sagwa.

My favorite PBS show is Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. I did also watch Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, Learn to Read, Square One (I think that's the name of it) and a little Carmen Sandiego but my favorite will always be (and always was) Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.

I stumbled upon "Wishbone" a few (or maybe more than a few) years ago and thought it was pretty good.

Several:

Arthur
Wishbone
Bill Nye The Science Guy
Magic School Bus

It's sad that PBS Kids has now exclusively catering to kids under 8.

Are there any PBS shows for anyone over 8, especially for 13-17 year olds?

My older daughter loved Wishbone, and Bill Nye, and my youngest daughter liked Sagwa for awhile. One of the first songs she sang to and held the note for a long time on.
I was too old for Sesame Street and never liked Zoom at all. But I do remember watching Nova as a child and LOVING it, when I was allowed to watch it.

Between the Lions is great.
There's something nice and calming about Blues Clues (but Steve, not Joe. Joe seems fake-happy) although I admit, not a PBS show, I don't think
And I agree, Sagwa is a good one.

Arthur (I admit I still watch it sometimes)
Reading Rainbow (still watch that but it's one of the few kid's shows that the adults can enjoy as well)
Wishbone
Between the Lions (because they look so much like the TLK lions)

If I have kids I will never let them watch Cyber Chase. The amimation is really hard on the eyes and Gilbert Godfried should be banned from speaking let alone doing voice overs. I can't watch ANYTHING with him in it.
