THIS MESSAGE WAS ORIGINALLY Posted around January 2006.

Other than FF-II, FFX (which I played and reached somewhat far), and FF-VIII (which I have seen briefly), I don't know of any other version ...

PS: I don't know if I still have the FF CDs...

NB: edit, (Sept 12th 2007): no, it is unlikely that I have the CDs. I parted last august with plenty old PC softwares and games... (pobably, within it, was the FF-II/ FF-VIII game(s))...

I've only played the GBA version of VI. Haven't finished it yet, (but I'm on Kefka's tower) and I ended up killing Shadow on the Floating continent so I can't get him back in my party.

I do have:
Terra
Locke
Edgar
Sabin
Cyan
Celes
Strago
Relm
Setzer
Mog
Gau
Gogo
Upooh

So that's 13 characters, and you only need 12 for Kefka's Tower. It would have been nice to have all 14 characters though.

For me it goes
X
IV
V
VIII
VI
XII
III
IX
VII
I
II

In descending order of Awesome. Can't wait for the IV DS remake.

AbominableSnoCone: The only US release of III thus far is a remake on DS with changed gameplay. You can download the ROM of the NES version with a decent translation in some illegal corner of the internet, no doubt.

NB: Illegal means are not always the best solution (if we search avoiding problemes with the law) ... Other than the expensive games (on DVD), there still remains the old PC cd-roms...

well, being a Final Fantasy Fanatic, i love them all, but if i had to choose 1 above all the others, it would be either VII or X, because the storylines are amazing and the gameplay is great, final fantasy Xii did disapoint me a little bit, because it can play itself, which takes the fun away a little bit

I've played my fair share of them. My faves are 4, 6 and Tatics.

I'm not really too much into FF games anymore. Never played XII and don't really care about XIII or the incessant FFVII spin-offs.

My brothers loved 3. My favorite is four.
When I play RPGS these days. I level as little as possible. That way, boss fights are intense, like my last guy has 23 hitpoints and finishes the boss with a crit.
In FF4 I have actually died to normal monsters...and I love it! I read a walkthrough once because I forgot how to get excalibur...Anyway, my guys were like level 30. Walkthrough says "You should be about 50 by now". I can't be sure but I think we must sadly conclude that he meant level 50. I'm not far past 50 if I even reach it when I beat the game.
FF1 is another good one for monster fights.
FF8 had a ret*d and confusing plot, and the drawing takes the fun out of it.
FF9 was a cartoon, but an okay game.
Never played 10 or above really.
5 was fun, but I never beat it.
2 was weird.

i beat FFVII on level 40 with all characters, the walkthrough says that the recommended minimum level to try the northern crater is level 60

Suppose I wouldn't really need one. I could run from fights and that would be underleveling enough to satisfy me.

For four there's a Speed Run and a Solo Cecil guide but no low level.

Wow. Aspies and FF. LOL the psychologist I saw on Saturday got a nice blasting of Sonic 3 and Knuckles. He should have mentioned anime and I would have given him FFVII crap, which I'm not so obssessed with. Of course, then he would have gotten DBZ and Sonic X and that would have sucked for him.

Love 1-9. After that... eh...

I just hate the newer character designs. Just tacky, in my opinion. The stories have also become less engaging. I don't know why. They just don't have the same charisma.

I also wish they would bring back the world map. Getting the airship and flying to different areas was something I always looked forward to. Not only that, but sometimes I feel like the games area becoming too huge. It is such a boring pain in the butt to maneuver around cities.

Final Fantasy III DS is the best FF ever.
