That era started long ago. My college could classify a student as a de facto thought criminal because charges like "intolerance" could be brought up as a student judicial action. Who was deemed "intolerant"? Anyone who didn't agree with the majority, of course.

while the quote may be true, i never believe these stories.
academics are competitive people and funding is fought over, a lot of competition goes on.
whenever one study comes out, you find that many more parallel studies are accdelerated to be released at the same time either supporting or refuting the initial finding.

whenever a defence organisation is doing serious study into into these types of research, they never advertise or publish it.
it is kept in house.

Finally, a cure for asperger's. Hooray.

As soon as they get it working, we can bypass the problem of trying to read all those nonverbal cues.

Except it won't help the problem of transmitting nonverbal communication, so all I'd get through my earphones is an endless chorus of "That guy's weird."

Not sure it'll help all that much. I have enough difficulty trying to approximate normal without wearing a helmet with wires and antennas sticking out all over.

And I thought invisible policemen/soldiers/agents are bad enough, now they have mind-reading ones? Heaven help us all if they decide to combine the two.

Nothing new. The idea of a 'lie detector' has been popular for a while. Reading body language and current polygraphs are not very good at detecting deception, but brain wave technology might be better.

But the ones that use satellites and drones for remote viewing have been far more successful than the ones that use psychics.

A lot of similar research relates to improving the lives of paraplegics.

And also I think there's been some research aimed at amputees thinking about movements leading to bionic limbs being able to move. Can't remember what stage that research is at.

At least the nastier people within the military won't have an excuse to torture (oh, excuse me, water-board) people during interrogation. Then again, they'll probably do that anyway just for fun.

probbely in the future going to be a small nifty thing that allows you to read

people's mind and eventualy when every one has one every one will die of braincancer(100% sure)
