Question to the knowledgble people in WP: What's the max color depth in LCD monitors? 24bit?

24 bit. Humans cannot see all those colors at once anyway. 16 million colors.

If your monitor is 1680x1050 you only have 1,764,000 pixels on screen at once anyway.

Now its not that simple. LCDs dont have as great of a spectrum as CRTs have, but the pixels are more crisp. A CRT gets closer to true black, for instance.
