A close friend of mine died within the last 24 hours. I'm hurting a lot, and this is a poem I didn't want to write, but I felt like I had to write it, and had to share it too. I hope you like it, I guess.

On A Day Like Today

On a day like today
Perspective is easy to find
But harder to accept.

Sick to your stomach
Realisation gushes forth, a muscular reaction
Harsh air chooses not to forgive.

At their best
The odds were against it
At their worst...

Expectation
Sitcom fantasies
BS.

Out of the ordinary.
When ordinary's all everybody wants
It's what no-one gets.

On a day like today
We're so small, so small
Our insignificance overreaches.

Sorry for the loss.

Your poem is beautiful. Emotion is what makes a poem beautiful
