I'm trying to find good anime to watch. Anyone have any suggestions? What about manga?

Hello, x_amount_of_words.

I wonder if you watched a certain anime from about ten years ago:

(sings) Fighting evil by moonlight
Winning love by daylight
Never running from a real fight

If you're as interested in manga/anime as you're suggesting,
I think you know the last line. (That was one of my guilty pleasures back in the day.)

As for manga: A Perfect Day for Love Letters,
Tokyo Mew Mew (the English-language anime of this
is Mew Mew Power), A Girl in a Million (with excellent
manga drawings by Kako Itoh, based on Betty Neels's Harlequin
romance novel).

One Piece
Gundam (Any of the series your pick)
Hellsing (Manga and Ultimate OVAs)

Death Note is definitely pretty good, both the manga and the anime. Not a lot of action, but good psychological stuff. It also gets brownie points for having an awesome potentially aspergian character called L.

Samurai Camploo is kind of neat, at least the anime. I've never read the manga.

Excel Saga (anime) is funny. I never read the manga.

The one series that I would suggest you go solely for the manga is Naruto. I didn't particularly like the first attempt to turn this into an anime, but I've heard that latter attempts (such as Naruto: Shippūden) have been better. So if you feel brave, check it out.

If you're willing to try older stuff, definitely check out Cowboy Beebop and Trigun. These were some of the first series to land in the U.S. after Pokemon landed, and in my opinion, are still among the best. I especially enjoyed Cowboy Beebop.

Other older, but still totally awesome series include Rurouni Kenshin and some of the Gundam series.

I hope this has been of use.

Fooly Cooly (FLCL) is a great anime, although odd in a good way.

My favorite manga is Kodocha (kid-oriented dramedy), but it's hard to find nowadays. I'd go with Eden, which is really psychological. Or Welcome to the NHK. All are good picks for people with AS.

Yes! I second this. Also, the Dragon Ball Series, Death Note, Sailor Moon(though it can get repetititive), Elfen Lied(extremely violent), Gravitation (it's Shonen-Ai though, so only if you're into that kind of stuff), Speed Grapher (though I find it really depressing)

Also, Trigun, Hell Girl, and Bleach are all okay, though not my favorites...

All of the ones I can think of (including the classics you've probably seen):

Anything by Miyazaki
Akira
Cowboy Bebop
El Hazard (The first OAV's awesome)
Escaflowne
Ghost in the Shell
Legend of Black Heaven
Macross Plus
Neon Genesis Evangelion (the original series and the new movies they're coming out with)
Ninja Scroll
Perfect Blue
Rahxephon (My personal favorite)
Read or Die
Sabor Marionette J
Soul Taker
Tenchi (series and movies)

As for manga, the only three I've read are Akira, Evangelion, and Rahxephon. The first two are great (better than their film/TV counterparts), but Rahxephon's manga adaptation is just horrible.

My tastes in anime and manga tend to lean towards shojo manga, but I recommend Reborn to anyone who wants a fun and light story that can also be interesting. I also recommend Death Note.

Otherwise, my recommendation goes as follows

Comedy: Excel Saga (is this shojo or shonen?), Ouran Host Club,
Drama and/or Romance: Vampire Knight (manga), X/1999 (anything but the movie), Please Save my Earth (manga is not very well known but it's really interesting!), Paradise Kiss, NANA, and Sand Chronicles

You all realize that One Piece is among the popular anime to watch in Japan. Note the dubbed version of it was very bad though the redubbing was better I have to say based on Youtube videos but I'm a true fan of the original non-dubbed with subtitles version.

Umm...even if Naruto is my favourite, It seems better to recommend The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Death Note and The Daughter of Twenty Faces, though I've seen but one episode looks quite worth watching.
