Undercover has a point.

Plus, you can explain to the ignorant masses what AS is.

Unfortunately, Autism has a lot of negative meaning.

People think autistics are ret*ds.

(sigh)

I chose aspie. I don't like to be called Autistic. It sounds a lot worse.

I use autistic myself because people tend to know what that is but if you say Aspergers or Aspie, people don't have a clue what you are talking about. I use Aspie on this site because everyone knows what it means!

it can be fun to look at their reaction....

EDIT: I choose 'autistic' because aspergers is on the spectrum and easier to explain (if I do that)

Same here, i learned that a while back. With AS it's easyer to explain it from a more blank opinion.

I don't want to call myself 'aspie', because I associate a very typical person with AS who actually fits the criteria neatly with that term.A little professor or somebody with a super special interest. That's just my personal association.

It also feels absolutely belittling if I am called that. Maybe because of the S and P? So far, I reprimanded all people trying to call me that.

Aspergian isn't a word for all I know. Sounds like an island or a strange flavour. Or a bacterium or something.

Autistic is correct for me anyway. I can accept autie. I love to say ASD!
