I used to know a girl who did that at work, and sometimes I'd be behind her in a meeting and it was all I could notice. It didn't *bother* me, but I did find it quite distracting.

There are lots of other normal things people do that bother me, though, so maybe that's just one of those things for you.

some things that just drive me insane

are people on cellphones
crying children
people who eat snacks one piece at a time slowly and deliberately
smacking sounds when eating
hair twirling - oh i mentioned that one..
loud talkers

and more - but will end it here.

I have similar issues. I think it's a sensory processing issue.

yeah...and on the city bus you can't close your eyes or zone out, you'll miss your stop-i have done this. but it's not as bad for me as someone sitting there oh, smacking their gum or something...with that, i have fantasies of bitch-slapping them  and have been known to look like an idiot and put my fingers in my ears. (shrugs: hey, they don't know me from adam's housecat, why not?)

No, there are a million other places you can direct your gaze to on the bus if it bothers you - after all no one ever said you had to look straight ahead just because you were on the bus

It wouldn't bother me. It would bother me if everybody would keep totally still.

It might. I have a hard time picturing myself in that situation. I'd have to be there to know if it is something that would upset me.
