I just asked my brother if it's ok to be a nerd. His response:
*long hesitation*

"Ah... well... we've got a problem if it isn't."

You are a person! Be proud and joyful of that. If your personhood is in the form of nerd - heck, you've got somewhere you belong. Take joy in that. There's nothing wrong with a nerd-person.

of course, anyone who says otherwise is too full of themselves. :D I think your scratching the surface on a deeper question, is it okay to be yourself? I hope we all know the answer to that one though. however once your butt starts growing around the computer desk I'd say you should tone down the nerdiness ;) but until then....

Depends who you ask. Personally, I would avoid nerdiness and geekiness.

These days, being a "nerd" is cool to some extent.

The image is changing from the socially inept, awkward person with limited interests (like me)

into an eccentric, intelligent, and well-paid professional (which I'm striving to be...)

I've seen a lot people with the "nerd" look, but when talking to them, they really aren't that nerdy.
