Are there any free video editing software for windows that's not virtual dub or avidemux?

I tried asking /g/ at 4chan but they refer me thetorrentbay.org for Premiere Pro and Camtasia Studio 4. When I told them about my torrenting policy, which is that I do not torrent software or media that you can buy at retail in the US...

..then what would be the point of torrenting?

get out of my /g/ you p**** buy***

The gimp has a plugin that allows editing of movies, but its not really what you want(maybe?).

Maybe try cinepaint? Its free. Oops. Not available for windows.

Windows media encoder has limited editing functionality
Windows media encoder
or if you can get your hands on an Apple they come with iMovie which is quite nifty.

The problem is that video editing is very complex to program and often the use of some encoding codecs requires a license fee so the best editing software can't legally be given away for free.

To give an answer though I think Vegas Movie Studio works best but I think it costs money.

Look on sourceforge.net... everything there is open-source.
