can anyone recommend any good ones avaible on mailorder? the ones I just googled are terribly expensive and I'm not so sure of their quality either...

yeah, I heard they are the best, I was going to get them but I thought I'll ask before spending that much money on headphones.

I use so pretty good Technics ones but I think it's not quite the level of noise-cancellation that I'm looking for.

For an none-expensive solution I recommend industrial ear defenders. I can't bear the sound of the vacuum cleaner and either leave the room when it is being used or put on the ear defenders. OK I might look like a prat but it doesn't matter at home.
