It has occurred to me that Sarah Palin is the antithesis of an Aspie. She is long on Social Skills and very short on Facts. In casual conversation she is very likeable, but when pressed to produce hard facts on Supreme Court decisions, Magazines she has read, McCain's positions, et cetera, she flounders badly.

At first she looked like a threat to the Democrats, now after the Katie Couric interviews she must seem (to the Democrats) like a gift from God.

If she flubs the debate tonight as badly as she flubbed those interviews, I've no doubt it will be Obama in 2008.

Hm, that could be part of why I so intensely and instinctively dislike her. She is the epitome of neurotypicality taken to caricatured extremes.

Seriously, avoiding the risk of Palin becoming President by McCain's death is probably the single most compelling reason to vote Obama. Even for me, who hates many of Obama's proposed policies.

I think we've officially run out of ways to insult Sarah Palin.

I would say she is anti intelligence, she pisses off NT and Aspies, she is the antithesis of any informed rational person.

Sarah Palin--the least Christ-like Christian
ever to darken the annals of American politics.

Her chin is too sharp, it makes me nervous.

Was that original?

We are not out of negative thinking on this topic. I know an optician that thinks her glasses are hideous. He's tired of people calling to ask if they have those frames - he tells them they are out, but they can be ordered. Then he tells them the frame alone is $400, and most people act surprised and hang up.

I think chances are good that she will surprise people in the debate - the format will let her be as vague as she wants for the most part - it will not be at all like an interview with hard questions, where the interviewer follows up and calls people out when they are evasive.

This debate could matter if one candidate really flubs it. Otherwise, I don't think it have a big impact.

I don't judge a man or woman by the way they say something or if they are short on words, I judge them for what they DO. This is the one area of politics I can't stand, idiots judging people if they stumble on their words or if they are not quick on the verbal trigger. Palin through her legislation seems to be just as qualified as Obama to be president. But let us not forget that Obama can give good speeches and can say CHANGE a hundreds within an hour. People are so hallow.
So what are you looking for in a VP? Are you looking at someone who doesn't stop and think for a second before answering? Or would you prefer someone who is guilty of plagiarizing a complete speech from a British politician and had to drop out of the 1988 presidential campaign because of it, like Joe Biden?

The allegations of plagiarism don't stick. Biden did not have the political organization to win, and the 'plagiarism' charge was only one of many reasons he bowed out.

Quote:
Kinnock’s {British politician} speech included the lines:

"Why am I the first Kinnock in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? [Then pointing to his wife in the audience] Why is Glenys the first woman in her family in a thousand generations to be able to get to university? Was it because all our predecessors were thick?"

While Biden’s speech included the lines:

"I started thinking as I was coming over here, why is it that Joe Biden is the first in his family ever to go to a university? [Then pointing to his wife in the audience] Why is it that my wife who is sitting out there in the audience is the first in her family to ever go to college? Is it because our fathers and mothers were not bright? Is it because I'm the first Biden in a thousand generations to get a college and a graduate degree that I was smarter than the rest?"

Though Biden had cited Kinnock as the source for the formulation many times before, he made no reference to the original source at the August 23 Iowa State Fair debate in question or in another appearance.

They "stick" quite well. I actually heard his speech in 1988 and I can assure you that it was him and his family he was talking about when he made that speech. The reason it might not "stick" in your eyes is because you don't have the drive by media talking about it daily because he is not a female Republican VP candidate.

I'm not arguing with the fact that he may have put his wife or kids in the speech - my point is that he gave that speech many times, and had repetitively cited Kinnock before. My wife is the first person in her family to go to college - I don't care what Biden or Kinnock said - it our case it is true. Was that because her parents and granparents were stupid? No. She had the opportunity, they didn't.

Do you think Palin was honest when she said she has been listening to Biden's speeches since she was in second grade? She can't name a court case other than Roe v. Wade, can't or won't tell us what she reads .... and now she repeats that line again and again.
