We are not out of negative thinking on this topic. I know an optician that thinks her glasses are hideous. He's tired of people calling to ask if they have those frames - he tells them they are out, but they can be ordered. Then he tells them the frame alone is $400, and most people act surprised and hang up.

It has occurred to me that Sarah Palin is the antithesis of an Aspie. She is long on Social Skills and very short on Facts. In casual conversation she is very likeable, but when pressed to produce hard facts on Supreme Court decisions, Magazines she has read, McCain's positions, et cetera, she flounders badly.
At first she looked like a threat to the Democrats, now after the Katie Couric interviews she must seem (to the Democrats) like a gift from God.
If she flubs the debate tonight as badly as she flubbed those interviews, I've no doubt it will be Obama in 2008.

I think chances are good that she will surprise people in the debate - the format will let her be as vague as she wants for the most part - it will not be at all like an interview with hard questions, where the interviewer follows up and calls people out when they are evasive.
This debate could matter if one candidate really flubs it. Otherwise, I don't think it have a big impact.
