Hi everyone - I'm just curious, are you messy or tidy or somewhere in between. I'm terribly messy in general and have difficulty getting my head around being clean and tidy however I'm spotless when it comes to my work. Everything is in an appropriate folder and carefully filed away for future reference.

I'm quite messy, if it's just me (my desk at work, my apartment - where I live by myself.) But when it comes to places I share with someone else, I go out of my way to erase all traces of my presence - if there's a mess, it wasn't caused by me (& I frequently find myself cleaning up after others who apparently don't share my feelings about how clean common areas should be kept.)

I prefer to view my living space as "organized chaos"... it only looks messy, but I usually know where everything is, especially if I'm the one who put it there.

At work, I'm compulsive about putting our daily paperwork in logical order, and I'll sometimes go to the unused cubicles and pick up the scraps of paper people have written on and left behind. I also have a tendency to pick up the cigarette butts people throw on the ground in our smoking area, especially if no one else is out there.

I am obsessively clean, inside my home. However, my vehicle is a complete mess. Junk mail, candy wrappers, spare change...

I go through phases... I'll walk into a room and explode into a galaxy of rubble and cosmic debris, but then about a week later I'll get industrious and go all-out OCD on my room, dusting and rearranging and Clorox-ing and Lysol-ing EVERYTHING, and getting mad at anyone who touches anything and leaves their dirty, messy fingerprints all over my nice, clean... everything. RAWR.

That's an apt phrase for my environmental layout/process (mode of operation) as well. Have too much stuff to keep apartment looking spartan & sparse-things end up in stacks & piles due to sheer volume.

Voted for "in-between" because my range spans both extremes (of tidy & messy). Am on-the-ball about cleaning up immediate messes I make, such as washing dishes. However, gradual things-especially ones that gross me out (or otherwise overwhelm)-don't get taken care of (or only very rarely), like dusting or cleaning bathroom fixtures.
Would answer similarly if question was "am I organized ?"-yes & no, depends on the details.

Do this, too: picking up others' rubbish (I smoke myself & keep eye out for trash can nearby).

Both, I like when everything is on the proper place. But a lot of times I do not make the time to make everything tidy; so then it is messy.

Home-disaster.
Work-pristine/disaster. Depends on if my idiot boss decides to pull me off a project...

A friend from way back knows my tendencies and has recently enlisted me in her quest to tidy up her house. She knows me too well! Helping someone else organize and make things "neat" and orderly has been my strong suit for some time, why can't I apply this to my own place? Why has my desk/backpack/locker been complete chaos from grades K-12? I don't know!

^^ I believe I am certainly very messy in the majority of circumstances. ^^ However, I enjoy keeping all of my happy manga books in alphabetical, then number order. ^^ On the other hand as said above, my work appears very messy as I keep lots of paper on the floor, or scattered about the desk etc, alas I find what I require easier to find this way, rather than filing. ^^ I often happily forget where I have filed what I require at a certain point in time.

My personal workspace- especially my sewing room can be a complete disaster while I'm working. Yet my partner and I try to maintain a "company-ready" home. So I'm inbetween.

Um, can an organised mess count as tidy? I can find anything I want as long as no one attempts to "tidy"

How about unorganized but not dirty.

I've used tidy as a defense mechanism at times . . .
