Hello. I'm yet another new person on Wrong Planet. Early this summer I was diagnosed with Asperger's. Before that I had never even heard of Asperger's.
I have gone through my life (all 16 years of it) wondering why I was so different from all the other students at my school. I was always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and I didn't really understand what some of the kids were saying when they used really abstract terms. I used to obsess over the ocean, particularly whales. When I was in the 5th grade my school sent home a note that I had read every ocean book in the library and they were ordering more. My reading levels have always been much higher than that of my classmates. By 7th grade I was bored with 11th and 12 grade novels.
After being diagnosed with AS a few of my "friends" stopped talking to me, some even started several rumors that I was "mentally ret*d" and that I should be in special education classes.
I'm sorry I have to stop here, but my mother is telling me to get off the computer because I have school tomorrow.
