mega Bomberman for sega genesis/megadrive and saturn bomberman. the intro theme sounds like sweet computer music. i want to know how to make those sounds. i'm thinking it's symmetrical scales like augmented or something... for some reason i really like the music for old school platforms. shining force II for sega had some sweet music and will probally be a big inspiration when i write my rock opera haha

System Shock 2 and Super Metroid are possibly my favorite game soundtracks evar. Bonus points to Shadow Hearts: Covenant and Persona 3, which are just so hypnotic and addicting that I couldn't forget them if I tried.

Rez had some decent tracks too, from what I recall of it.

This is a really really hard question, because I like so many different songs from so many different games.

Final fantasy VII and VIII had a lot of good music. Puggsy on the sega genesis had good music too.

I would say banjo-kazooie but their pretty much all the same sound in different styles.

Also paper mario had some good tracks, and mario and luigi on gba is the best gameboy music I've heard.

Aaah what a great thread! To all those who love the Tetris theme tune! Ages ago I managed to find and download a rave style remix of it by DJ Rush. It's crazy, cheesy and cool!!

Also... the most beautiful video game music I have ever loved is the theme tunes to the original Tomb Raider games. I managed to find and download the Tomb Raider 1 and 3 versions. They now sit perfectly in my iTunes/iPod under the Chillout genre!

Also, who remembers Sonic Boom from the Sonic CD games?! Superb track!

GLaDOS - Still Alive, from portal is the first that comes to mind..

Then you have others, like plenty from Ocarina of Time, I can't make much of a list though off the top of my head.
