I now run my own business from home. Yes almost all human contact is via email, but I do get some who like to telephone me. I have like a basic script now so I can be in control of the conversation when new clients call up. So I have slowly learned to do sales and also to manage my freelancers (I have strong suspicions that most of them are ASD as well which is why we all love working from home), although I could never work in a proper sales environment in an office. I did try recruitment at one time, which landed me with 3 weeks of laryngitis followed by a week of chronic asthma.

Oh and the most terrifying phrase in the world of work is "open plan office". Nooooooooooo lol.

Yes i can clearly relate to you, and I run my business alone while most of the contacts are through email, text and phone calls. I think its interesting to have a script when you can be in control of the conversation, sometimes when the convo gets heated over job, I tend to screw up.

And yes i hate open plan/concept office and after work socialising. I will rather be tug in somewhere at the corner and have my peace. At times when i am stressed, people just walk up and interrupt and do small talks.. it really boils inside trying not to explode.

Btw i do graphic design work, which mainly requires to face the computer. I am thinking of picking up photography but it seems to be more of a extravert job which requires a lot of people skill and socialising to be successful.

as such I think top 5 worst career are jobs that requires a lot of empathy , emotions related like customer service, sales job that requires negotiating ..service line that needs a lot of talking to colleagues and customers.

I'm an Aspie, and I'm a lawyer. I love what I do. I've been doing it for 10 years.

What kind of lawyer? What do you love about it? What's difficult about it? Please elaborate... My brother and his wife (neither of them are autistic) graduated from Pepperdine law school, they passed bar on first try, etc., and they couldn't get hired, and also couldn't get their own practice off the ground... this was in San Diego ~ 12 years ago, but their experience is apparently not at all atypical for law grads these days...) so I'm really curious about how you made it?

:D I would suck at being a lawyer. Especially if I knew that the person I was defending was guilty and yet I had to convince a judge that they were not guilty. I think my sense of justice would get the better of me... 'Your honour, although I am meant to be defending this SCUMBAG, I know that he did it because he blooming told me so in a quiet room... SO SEND HIM DOWN!! !'

Seen the movie "Liar Liar" with Jim Carrey? LOL
