What's the deal with "Central America"? I hear about it a lot, but there is no such continent or official region: It's all North America and South America -- that's it. Terms like "Central America" therefore tend to confuse, as it did you in your correction.

We might as well say "Central Dakota", or "Central Carolina". People would wonder which of the actual, existing states was being referrenced.

The South Americans are a bit snobbish about Central Americans that is all I know. They would consider South America to begin at the bulbous bit not the thin neck of “Central America”. If anything Central America is considered part of “North” by some South Americans.

What is even stranger is the mainland countries above Brazil are often included in the Caribbean nations. It is true that there is definitely some cultural crossover in many of these. I mean Trinidad is only about 10 miles from Venezuela as the crow flies. Also many of these nations don’t have extensive inland development, it is just largely inhabited jungle they might as well be islands. 90% of the population live near the cost.

wiki places Mexico to Panama in "North America". I think this is the fairly standard definition.

As far as I know there's no such thing as a "Central America" it's just an undefined construct used to gesture vaguely towards an undefined region south of the US and north of Bolivia.

People don't agree about what countries (and parts of countries) are in it (or not) because officially it doesn't exist as anything but public opinion.

Central America isn't a continent it's a region. Do you have a problem with Central Asia? Or other sub continental regions like Indo-China, South Asia, the Mid-East, or, for that matter, Europe?

It's the most likely candidate. But having to pay Federal taxes and use English in legislature may be barriers to that happening.

Are you basing this off watching "The Real Housewives of Orange County" or something? Because I don't think I've ever met a teenager (or young adult) who has had plastic surgery. And I've lived in the US my whole life. Have you ever even visited here, or spent a significant amount of time in the US?

Honestly I don't count the eastern side of america as the one I point blame at, it seems to be california, like that kind of area, you find documentaries on it even, believe me I do not watch any kind of strange show like you were talking about, I don't watch anything that sounds like that, I only watch factual documentaries or comedies like south park or two and a half men
