Honestly I don't count the eastern side of america as the one I point blame at, it seems to be california, like that kind of area, you find documentaries on it even, believe me I do not watch any kind of strange show like you were talking about, I don't watch anything that sounds like that, I only watch factual documentaries or comedies like south park or two and a half men

I'm not so sure about that stereotype, although I am sure that foreigners have some very funny ideas about this country... Our girls are entirely capable of finding more economical ways of being trashy, thank you very much.

I hear our tea really sucks too.

That is because tea should be sipped.. not sucked..

I was extremely careful not to suck any American tea.. when I was in the states..

I heeded the warnings............ =:-0

This is something I've just uploaded.. on Americans encountering English customs.. in wartime Britain....... just for fun..:-)

^ Funny video. American aspies can relate to the pain felt by those who would come into contact with the likes of Ronald and Pam.

My first thought was Puerto Rico...

It's the most likely candidate. But having to pay Federal taxes and use English in legislature may be barriers to that happening.

That would be true, except the Statehood party in Puerto Rico won by a blowout in the elections.

If you had ever sipped tea in England.. you would never dare suggest such a thing..;-)

To suck one's tea would mean to slurp.. it is not considered lady-like..

A gentleman.. like myself.. who knows how to behave properly.. when drinking tea.. never slurps in company.

Did you know the cup handle needs to be held between the thumb and the first finger.. with the pinky finger extended.. in order to demonstrate grace.. when ever you raise the tea cup to your lips.. to take a sip..?

Such things are imporatant to know.. if you ever visit England..;-)

This is what happens to a country that neither has King.. nor Queeen.. they rapidly experience a cultural decline..

Which ends up with sucking iced tea through a straw..=:-0

Oh.. how America has fallen.. since British rule.. :-(

BTW - The queen sends her love.

And what happened to the rest of your message.. :-0

I was going to respond to that..:-(

Now.. you will never know what I was gonna say..(sigh)

However.. I'll forgive you.. if you post a pic of you all dressed up..:-)

What you wrote gave me the idea for a topic..

Who has the weirdest customs.. ?

We have Morris Dancing..

I bet you can't beat that..:-)

Not true. The republic of Switzerland does well for itself, for instance.

Maybe I should have put a wink to show I was joking.

Sometimes I'm too lazy.. and I joke so much.

As for the Switzers.. they drink weak black tea..=:-0

Meaning.. they still live in the dark ages.

At the best.. they are an emerging civilisation..;-)

But they have no hope of blossoming.. until they discover what milk is used for.

;-)

Ahh...I got rid of it because it was all snarky. Four generations of family around the same table is really kind of cool.
That video was fun to watch. :D ...but then again, I know how to square dance, which is kind of weird. :?

Four generations.. !

I only have a mum.

I had a spider in the bathroom.. called Freddy..

But he past on to a better place.

I grieved for three and a quarter hours.

I was devastated..:-(

Square dancing is what happened to Morris Dancing.. when you didn't have a king or queen.. to set a good example

Baseball is what happened to rounders.. without a royal family.

And football is what happened to rugby.. with out the British National Anthem.

Find a King.. or Queeen.. ASAP.. that's my advice...

They will surely guide you wisely.. ;-)

Do you have a hangover after all that wild partying.. ?

I do seem to recall, that for all our superficiality, boneheadedness, stubborness, narrow-mindedness, myopia, insularity, and general ignorance of the larger world picture . . .

We do seem to have some good qualities as well. If there is such a thing as a just war, WWII was certainly it. Good guys and bad guys? Just a few words here; Auschwitz, Treblinka, Buchenwald, Bergen-Belsen. That should be enough. Given the realities of the situation at the time, it's not much of a stretch to claim that the world was saved from a very, very dark potential future.

Like it not, we ARE the arsenal of democracy.

Now let the arrows fly.

You claim to be a historian and take such a black-and-white view on WWII? Hitler was evil, no doubt about it, but it's quite debatable whether siding with Stalin was necessarily a good thing. After all, he did kill more people than Hitler.

Well...I will say nothing about either politics or religion, because I've learned that wherever you go, there are sane people and there are idiots of all persuasions.

But regarding the serious stuff...I like the way you cook bacon. And, the Northwest has some great beers.

But iced tea sucks. And you don't do hot tea, with the exception of a place called The Crumpet Shop in Pike Place Market, which not only has crumpets but tea. Real tea. PG TIPS. (Chai does not count, and boba is a milkshake with little balls of Gummi Bear in it. Cool on its own terms, but not real tea.)

And, what is this thing with cooking sweet potatoes in syrup? And putting marshmallows on top? I mean, guys, what did the poor old sweet potato ever do to you to deserve that?

I used to Morris dance, BTW. It was the Border variety, which involves hitting people with big sticks. And it's well known in the annals of Morris dancing that line dancing was invented to give us something to laugh at...
