One kind of statement that will get attention
is the fact that you won't sign the IEP,
unless reasonable accomodations are met.

We did retain an attorney and that was the first question she asked. Did you sign the IEP? I said we did with the understanding that we would have an aide.

So she called a new IEP meeting. Suddenly they "have someone in mind" for my daughter's aide. We shall see how it goes. My hubby and I did decide that even if this works out, we will keep her on retainer until my daughter no longer needs an IEP. It's pretty clear that despite both being intelligent people that the school district speaks a different language than we do.
