"Pole position", "shooting-star" and "sunnyboy" - three English expressions used ad nauseam in the Swiss press.

Also "leverage" (as a verb), "leading edge", "benchmark"

When people drop the word 'like' into every other sentence.

People using the words 'fit' and 'hot' when refering to someone they find attractive. :x

Any word that has multiple other words standing for the same thing.

Any word that is used for something it doesn't mean

Any and all "1f u C4n r34D tH15 U N33d 2 G37 L41D" kind of internet talk

Similarly to 'like', I hate people what put in lol in every third word of their sentences.

I hate when my parents say, "It is what it is." In other words, they don't care what happens. At least that is how I view it. I also hate the words fat and obese.

I hate it when people swear when chatting online for some reason. I don't do it unless I'm quoting someone. It is just annoying though to come across someone who types swears all the time, it makes them harder to take seriously.

I hate the term "That's so gay". It's like saying "That's so black/Jewish/Bob/Your mom".

The word 'yarn' annoys me because it makes no sense.

1. Diminutives of words (ex. "tummy" rather than "stomach") - just bug me
2. "LOL" - maybe 0.5% of the time, they're actually laughing about something...
3. Vacuum - whose idea was it to invent a word with a double 'u'?

I am listing reasons why I find some words annoying.

Like
People drop this roughly 10-15 times in their speech.
I am induced to approach the person & bitch-slap the F out of him/her.

OK
Same reasons as Like. It's a non-word.

Thing
Saying this multiple times gives the impression you have a limited vocabulary.

Dude
It is becoming more & more common everywhere.
And it is an androgynous word, especially when talking about women.

Cute
Please, come up with a different adjective! :x :x :x :x

'Cutting' when used to mean 'cutting oneself (intentionally)'

I really hate it for some reason. I can't go on forums where people say it a lot. 8O

A lot of people here would really hate the way I speak. I say 'like' and 'y'know' and 'okay' and all those pointless words  I kinda wish i didn't say 'like', because it does make people sound really stupid.

 Reminds me of when the director of a play I was in was trying to tell someone to be more enthusiastic or something but couldn't find words for it and ended up saying "Just... literally... stick a firework up your arse."
