i would like to put a neat picture next to my sign in name.

My wife thought about the great thinker. i think its generic.

I wouldn't mind the great thinker on a toilet with his head in both his hands, giving the image of exasperation.

But i don't know how to put any picture there.

You can upload it from your home computer by going into your profile (link is right underneath the row of Google ads with a blue background). At the bottom is an option for "Upload from your machine".

The image must be 130 pixels by 130 pixels or smaller, and not more than 6k. If you have a pic but it's too big, I can resize it for you, just PM me.
