Really interesting to read things about this man who had severe seizures and had a bilateral hippocampas removal surgery as a last resort... back in the 1950s.

I guess it also does not mean the 82 year old H*rny Man in the other thread here who took Viagara and whose wife called the police! :roll:

I think this H.M. was mentioned in the textbooks who had t have this surgery because he had numerous and severe seizures that such drastic surgery was necessary. :o

Well I think that the case of HM is sad, but we did learn a lot about brains from his misfortune. The BBC book "The Mind Machine" by Colin Blakemore does mention HM on page 54.

Also in the book "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" (Oliver Sacks) a man with no memery, this case was named the "Lost Mariner".

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
