with older and younger people than themselves and not so much people of the same age. Is it because people of the same age have more to associate with them? what are your takes on this?

Personally, I find them less intimidating as I don't see them as peers. Also, if I come across as having different views or attitudes from them, it can be put down simply to age differences.

Probably because of intelligence and maturity they don't like to tlak to people in the same age group. But I dunno, I hardly count as an aspie.

so dead wrong,
because if there is conflict instead of working out their differences
they are set in their childish ways and they will butt heads forever,
they become VARY childish instead of trying to work together and get along.

I don't think that inelligence is necessarily some inherient characteristic of a person with Asperger's. I saw some intelligent ones .. I saw a lot of damb too.

And you're exempt from this, AMIRITE? Kidding aside, the few I have seen are not individuals I would care to associate with.

This little myth has really gained legs. What's even sadder are the individuals who go around announcing to the world "I R SPESHIAL" when nothing could be further from the truth. Asperger's /= intelligence.

Because they are not peers, and thus relationships with them are more clearly defined and easier to navigate. Asperger's is defined as including difficulty in forming normal peer relationships, but there is nothing in the diagnostic criteria about other relationships.

Most of my friends are my age or 2-5 years older.

You know how NTs are very competitive about everything, usually?

Well, I think people of the same age have a lot of reasons to compete with each other for social status.

When talking to someone a little older or younger, I don't think that competition manifests the same way. I don't know why not, and I don't know how it's different, but I know I don't feel it as much.

I work with older people at work (mostly 60-100), and I've never been more at home in my life. That doesn't include my co-workers, though.

Love,

Patrick
