Rom-Coms Spoil Your Love Life

A good way to tell a man has unrealistic expectations is the stacks of Penthouse and Playboy magazines he has lying around his house. Beware if the stacks are sticky and piled as high as a small child.
EWWWWWWWWWWW................. As a guy who constantly is hearing about how every guy has explored porn... and I do think that may be somewhat true, I know I have.... and saw so little in it I was like how the f*** can people actualy enjoy this, all I see is something I'd rather not want to see, and I think I enjoy people more with their clothes on anyways. Anyone who can enjoy such a primal form of animalistic entertainment must be a beast themselves. I'm sorry, but when the right one comes along, I'm still not going there, porn destroys lives without the people being aware of it happening. There are other better ways to fill the desire to be with someone than to pleasure oneself in such crude ways. If a guy is that into porn, what is the first thing he would ask you on a date? From what I've heard outa some peoples mouthes, "can I see a nude picture of you?"
That is my daily rant. End of story.

What about those of us for whom the "right one" will never come along?

Yeah, and most men who are big porno-fans think of women as little more than objects with no purpose but to fulfill a man's fantasies. There are some men who prefer the porno to their real live wives or girlfriends and wonder why their partners don't want to do anything for them.

What if his stacks of magazines are Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Scientific American, Sky & Telescope, The Smithsonian, and several catalogs from Radio Shack and Home Depot?

Then you've either found a good man to be around, or a wannabe handyman.

I would assume he is an intelligent man who seeks to learn more about the world around him. I would also think he is very logical and analytical. Many interesting conversations would be had.

And then there are the men like me who are too ugly, shy, poor, and nerdy to ever get a girlfriend. In my case, the only one of those four traits that may improve over time is the poor if I land a decent job in this economy... I myself have not had one girlfriend in my life (not even one of those high school flings), and I'm going to be 21 in January. So the only options left are porn or imaginary girlfriend (I am fully capable of the latter, as well)... Which creeps you out less?
As a side note, I make a point out of treating all human beings I meet in real life with respect, unless they've done something specifically to piss me off...

Don't give up. Try to meet someone, and get to know people around you, and you might find the perfect one. I have, and I hope she finds me the same way... only time will tell. If all else fails, STOP LOOKING SO HARD, there is probably an aspie looking for someone like you that meets ur interests, put yourself out there... err... here I guess... and see what happens. And on an interesting note, that perfect girl of mine seems to have some aspie traits, and I want to figure out if thats just coincidental, considering how much like me she is.

You need a college degree in a field of interest that will pay off in the long-term. I changed my major because I knew it wouldn't give me the financial security I am looking for. I went from training for a career that pays $39,000 a year to one that pays $72,000 a year. I will apply to medical school within the next two years but at that time I will also have a career that has an above average salary in case I fail to make it into any medical schools. I will be applying to around 25-40 medical schools around the U.S. In order to have financial stability, one needs to have multiple safety nets. As for the porn, I was speaking of the men who prefer watching porn to spending time with their wives or girlfriends. You should meet girls that have your interests. 21 is far too young to be fretting about your current lack of income.

I've heard that IT jobs (I'm an IT major) can get starting salaries of around $50,000, but job security is so low in the field, so I don't know how well I would be able to establish economic security...

Okay, that clears some misunderstandings up. I would gladly spend time with a girlfriend, provided I actually had one...

Where? My college is a 4:1 male to female ratio (the IT department is something more like 20:1). I picked the college because it offered a good IT program, and it's one of the few colleges that is within commuting distance (so that I don't have to spend more money a year on room and board), and also just being cheaper in general (I pay half in tuition what I would have paid if I chose some other locations...)
Aside from that, I spend much of my free time working at a church, doing various things from youth group leader to bass in church choir to audio/visual manager... I'm also the only 18-25 person active in the church, one of three active in 18-30, and one of about six active in 18-40... As I'm now too old to consider any of the high schoolers (who leave the church when they graduate, since they actually go away to college), I don't really have any potential there either.
Outside of those two places, there's not much else I'm involved in...

21 is also far too long to have gone without ever knowing the feeling of a woman that actually loves me back...
