How common is this amongst the members of WP? I ask this becuase I assume that most aspies or auties may not relate easily to other people in their lives and thus may associate hero worship tendencies towards people who they have never met ie. Scientists, Mathematicians etc and other famous people. However I have a feeling this isn't just confined to real people but also to fictional characters from anime, computer games and television...

Is there someone you idealize???

Not really. Not anymore. I'd have to say that my faith in the flowers of humanity is pretty much crushed by recurring abusive realities.

I wouldn't say Hero worship. I don't Idolise anyone since all are imperfect, as I am.

I admire certain people for the way they live their live. Their political stances perhaps, especially if they stick to them if those political stances aren't especially popular.

Or if they've had hard lives but it hasn't broken them (or if it did they we're strong enough to put themselfs back together)

Or if they've achieved something great.

But I wouldn't say I can relate to them. Quite the opposite. They are mysterious creatures who must be studied, as I can't for the life of me understand how they do it.

Thinking about it, the only People I relate to are characters on television that have somewhat Aspie-ish behievior, Such as Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, robot and alien Charactors.

There are people I highly respect, such as Barack Obama and Shakira (Shakira is half-Colombian like me, which also interests me), but I don't really 'hero worship' real people. I do idolise fictional characters, however. Sonic, Batman, Team Rocket... haha, it's silly I know. Perhaps it's just easier to want/try to be like them because their characters are much more simple and open and well-known.

People would guess it'd be SpongeBob but actually no.
Perhaps some cartoonists, because I want to animate when I grow up. 8)

Do you want to do animation the traditional way or using computer graphics.

A bit of both, I like all forms of animation, including 3D and stop-motion. :)

The only hero I worship is Jesus.

See that's the weird thing for me.

I believe in God, and therefore Jesus, angels, etc.

I wouldn't say I hero worshipped God.

And while I respect and admire what Jesus and God did, and couldn't see myself doing it. I don't feel strong emotions towards it, It's more of an intellectual thing for me.

But as God knows my heart, I believe he doesn't judge me unfairly for it. He know who I am. and knows I love, respect and honour him in my own way. It took many years of guilt for me to accept that my faith, while being individual and different from most people, is just as equal in strenght to the traditional idea of faith, it's just my own.

And I'm not overly convinced Jesus nor God want to be worshipped, per se- just appreciated.

You could be right, either that or in this say and age they'd settle for appreciated. Hell in this day and age they'd settle for just acknowledging that they *might* exist....and maybe a telephone call now and again.

Poor God, he's the unvisited, unloved elderly parent in a home these days!

I guess I always regarded hero-worship as a kind of weakness, almost a character flaw, although I know it's a very human thing.

Maybe the Aspie analogue is momentary, profound admiration that differs from NT hero-worship in that it's not sustained by a requisite, deeper fondness for humanity.

No, you're wrong. God wants us to worship Him and only Him; to hold Him in the highest regard, above all people and things. He is "a jealous God"; He does not want us to place anything in higher importance than Him. He does not want to be merely "admired"; He wants us to praise Him, worship Him, follow Him, and most of all, love Him with all of our hearts, minds and spirits.
