I wish you a merry christmas! :rendeer: :santa:

Odd, what you wrote. I never thought of you not being autistic. I don't know why this person says these things. Weird.

Age,
have said this before-as am remember the idiots on autism speaks that did that, dont listen to this user, they have nothing better to do with their time than act like autism police, they also dont change the view of anyone who knows self.
Auties are the more likeliest of all to get that on a forum because some people are too ignorant to see past their own stereotypes, they think autism is only on one profoundly affected level, and auties cannot use forums or some other computer thing despite the fact that many auties use computers for communicating, whether through tts or distance communication.

maybe if that is what often experience on that forum,it isnt such a supportive forum to stay around, just stay around those that find supportive, that user/pegasus should get spoken to by a mod,it used to happen a lot to Anbuend here-of course,no one thinks any less of Anbuend, but think very little of the users that do the autism police thing on her.

don't leave for too long Age,are a part of WP and definitely wont get that crap here.

I'm so sorry to hear that! :( I hate it when people falsely accuse people of faking.
I hope you come back some day, in the meantime, happy holidays.

So sorry to hear that someone has gotten you so upset. It's probably happened to most of us online at one time or another. So I understand. It's good to take a break, just to let the troll's energy wear off. But please come back to WP. I love reading your posts. On a website of people who have a neurological affinity for honesty, you stand out as one of the most honest people around.

Have a great holiday! :rendeer:

Apparently I don't have aspergers because I don't enjoy getting 60 threatening messages from an aspie. If I have aspergers, I should want to talk to him. Why do they think being an aspie is an automatic ticket to be liked in places like this?

sounds like they need more than just replies to their messages [a restraining order more like].

I also think that it's a good idea to have your doctor write a short note that you could scan/take a photo of, saying that you have Kanner's Autism/Autistic Disorder; if you can't ask for this, you could get your mother or boyfriend to ask on your behalf. Then, after blanking out any names or personal details you don't wish to share, you can post it to shut up said people/person.

People ask where are all of the adults with Kanner's Autism, if so many kids are getting diagnosed with it. Since they don't see them in person, they think all of them are profoundly mentally ret*d who can't read/write; no, it's just that the social impairment and sensory problems are [usually] so bad, most are doing what Autistic people do (tinkering or whatever in their homes), and the prevalence isn't as common as Asperger's, so you won't see them often. Most that do see them are children with it, and children with Kanner's are different to adults with it in the majority of cases.

Where are we?

We're right here (people just don't listen).

I wish it were that simple- but apparently many of those individuals know more than the doctors regarding a diagnosis (in their opinion). I've seen them state plently of times that in regards to people such as, say, Amanda Baggs, evidence from a Doctor means nothing to them.

If they still continue after such, it's most likely personal and emotional to them, rather than a rational questioning of someone's disorder (I'm still trying to figure out what's so special about autism that makes people question it so much, especially via posts online; no one lifts an eyelid if someone says they have Schizophrenia, but autism, no, no one but so and so can have that!).

It's unlikely for someone with Kanner's to not gain the ability to read and write (talking too), and if people say otherwise, they're either speaking of children or the minority of adults who aren't verbal (even many of those who aren't verbal can read/write).

My psychiatrist sees adults with Kanner's (he specialises in adults with mental disorders), and they all can talk adequately (my mother questioned him about the autism diagnosis, which included asking about the level of speech an adult with autism can have).

I am sorry this happened. And if you are dealing with too much stress, then you definitely don't need this to add to it. But just remember something, something that I have had to learn the hard way.. if you give this kind of troll a lot of power, they will win and you will be left feeling more miserable. Don't let that happen but I understand the need for a break... but I do hope to see you again after the holidays and when you are feeling more refreshed.

age1600,
I wouldn't worry about what other people say or think, even though, I admit, I do the same thing sometimes, to my detriment, I realize.
Only you know yourself truly and that's what really matters. You are an individual first and foremost, before anything else.
