I had to give a few speeches when I was in college. I found giving a speech easier than working in a small group. When giving a speech, you don't have to look at anybody in the eye. You have to do a lot of direct talking when working in small groups.

When working with small groups, you have to work with morons who are harder to herd than cats. Speeches are just talking in front of a large group of people, an easy task so long as you keep your nerve.

AGREED! Though I do wish I didn't get quite so anxious for them, when I actually do a presentation, my voice is dramatic (I don't have voice tone problems) and sounds more confident then I really am. I'm never like that. It gives me this high...that goes away after the presentation, but c'est la vie.
Group work sucks, even if I have friends I tend to mess up...:(

No one pays attention to/remembers speeches. so keeping that in mind takes a lot of pressure off. I had to give a speech at graduation (as valedictorian) and it wasn't a really big deal.
