I often have a generalized feeling of anxiety and nervousness, but there is no real cause for it. I also have panic attacks where my heart races and thumps and I get an adrenaline rush. That is the panic attack.

I see it as two different stages. Anxiety is what hits me first. If it gets to a panic attack, that's when all of the big physical symptoms hit me and it's awful. :(

I try to catch it when it's still in the anxiety stage. If it happens at night I try to do whatever I can to not think about what has me freaked out. That usually means I listen to music to change my mood, read a book, have a shower. Anything to prevent the panic stage.

I always thought they were the same thing.
But from my experience panic attacks are a sudden thing for me where anxiety attacks are gradual and start with chest pains that get worse and worse.
