This is a random thread, what do you call your Nintendo consoles in reviews or whatever?

In my opinion it's a NES or SNES and those that say the others are bad with their pronouneciation.

I used to put the periods in about 20 years ago
(i.e. N.E.S. for Nintendo Entertainment System).
Now, I treat it as an acronym (no periods, just NES)
As for the other one, I simply call it Super NES.

I think either is exceptable and it doesn't really matter... just my 2 cents.

are there rules for the periods in acronyms?

it _looks_ better without, USA / U.S.A., EU / E.U., USSR / U.S.S.R.

Do you mean how do we type it, or how do we say it out loud?

I type it without periods, but if I say it out loud, I pronounce each letter.

Oh... I didn't realize that. In that case i still think it doesn't matter. I personally just call them "Nintendo" and "Super Nintendo"

I say nes and super nes...

It makes you wonder if that's where the main character of Earthbound got his name from...

NES and SNES. A string of capital letters together usually implies an acronym. Anything else is just yelling...

Most likely. In the US NES prototype (Earthbound Zero) the main character's name was Ninten.
