Does anybody get this?

I occasionally get this. But I'm tired of people thinking we're dumb and weird. Just because we're a bit different some people will think we're dumb or childish. I've seen some people make fun of AS or call people names just for having it. And there are some who think that just because one acts very weird, they think we all act like that.

Who else is tired of this?

What's wrong with being weird?

Weird is an anagram of wired.

Yeah. I just don't get why some people don't like it when we act different. There's nothing wrong with being weird.

I like to think of autism and Asperger's as being like having superpowers. That soon helps you feel better about stuff despite how ignorant people can be.

We are the chosen ones!

It also used to be a synonym for "fateful".
As for the O.P., it could be any one of community building/maintence, displaced anger, placed anger, ignorance or misinformation, boredom or just idle prejudice. Or it was a badly judged bit of irony. Who can say?

In Asperger syndrome this is what I mean as Aspiphobia. I have no time for Aspiphobes as these are a bunch of wankers whether adults or children. I myself have got Aspiphobes in my family 8O

I used to be one of the ones that, as much as I was harassed bout being different, would make fun of the next kid over who was more disabled than me. Of course, I did this more to say I am not as bad as you should be thinking of me. I would never do it to a kid's face, couldn't bare to see them have to put up with what I had to... I do not even poke fun at them behind their backs now, ever since I realised just how much AS is both real and a part of who I am. Again, as I posted in another topic, I hate m past and who I was, and strive to be the person I was meant to be, and do everything I can to become that person so that I will never again have to be that fool I used to be.

My superpower is the ability to perform boring repetitive tasks all day without losing my concentration. I am Photocopy Woman. I wish I could prime factorize 20 digit numbers in seconds but never mind
