the term "thus far" annoys me. Why not just say "so far"?

And you know how when, like after an even where you know something or someone is going to win like the Oscars last night, Slumdog Millionaire was expected to clean up pretty well?

anyway, I couldn't stay up for the whole thing and most of today my internet and TV was down so I couldn't get the results. When my wife came home, I told her I didn't get a chance to see who got pest picture. She said, "I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count."

Image huh?

first two...?

Here's one people from the Northeast say a lot (people from Rhode Island, New York et al)

Yous, as in "yous people have to find another cart. This one's busted."

I can't stand the word "whilst" for some reason.

I hate pop culture terms like "this is how I roll.'

But I do like to make fun of them. Every time I hear that particular one I say "Oh yeah, well I roll by lying down on the floor and rolling across it."

I especially hate when someone says "that's where it's at." But I make fun of that one too. I say something like, "Yep, it's over there."

phat

ill
homie
bezz (Go)
ennit (innit with an "E")
pretty much every sort of gangster word that people hate.

It's not the word itself or the connotation, but the actual sounds that make up certain words that annoy me...

Consonant blends like:
bl (as in blob)
rb (as in disturb)
rm (as in term)
ck (as in quick)
rk (as in fork)

This seems to be partially a sound-sensitivity issue, and partially a synaesthetic one... For me, sounds transmute into color and emotion, and some of these associations can be unpleasant.

I get so sick of people using some uncommon words from the urban dictionary as if they were really everday language.

^ The way things are going, UrbanDictionary.com is probably going to end up being a legitimate source to use in defining words/coining new ones.

I hate it when people include the phrase "by the way" when introducing themselves. I have probably confused and/or offended several people by inadvertently visibly cringing when they say that.

"by the by" annoys the hell out of me. Trying to sound all prim and proper, are we?
