...a large, robotic tarantula?

Some of you may remember I was working on this a year-and-a-half ago. I had drafted the blueprints, built the battery pack, purchased the motor, completed one leg -- and then I met my wife ( :D ) . So, should I finish it, or not?

:chin:

If the wife have no major problems with it..

Yes. Get building. I have thought it through and
i haven`t found even one good reason not to do it :)

If she have problems with it, smooth them out and
then start to build :)

If she threatens to leave, hurry up and put the tools down i think

I'd pay to see a large, robotic tarantula.

Na, I've seen that one before. It's cool, but I'm going for realism. I've even got the materials for the "skin" and "hair" selected. I'm trying to duplicate the anatomy exactly. I suppose that would make it an "arachnoid", like a human-looking robot is an "android".

Think I went a little overkill on making the battery?

Image

Combining those 129.6 volts with the motor producing ~350 inch-pounds of torque should give it plenty of power.
It took forever to solder those 108 batteries together, but the electrical system works perfectly.
I have to charge this "battery brick" 9 times -- one for each 12-cell group -- but it gets there in the end.
And the runtime is incredible. So, I suppose I'll put the finishing touches on the one completed leg tonight while my wife is at work. Wow, I've now totally gotten back in the swing of industrial hobbies -- I didn't think I still could! It's been a while.

Great to hear that the creative juices are flowing again. Awesome looking battery, Ragtime.

Epic stuff. I should do something like that myself one of these days.

For now, it's getting me pretty motivated to get to work on actualizing the novel I've been working on off and on for the past few years. You're an inspiration!
