Tic question
Does anyone else get tics in bed? Sometimes while I'm laying there trying to get to sleep an arm or a leg will suddenly twitch very sharply while I'm still wide awake. It doesn't happen very often. Is this something associated with AS or does everyone get these? It tends to happen more when I'm agitated or worrying about something.
I don't get tics very often, sometimes a muscle under an eye ticks which I find embarrassing in case people think I'm winking at them.

If you are agitated and/or worrying a lot, then tics are common. It just means the body is producing hormones to make the mind move fast, which causes a synchronisation issue with the brain and body. Those who have chronological problems with elevated agitation may develop tic disorders. Anti-psychotics slow the brain down and ease the synchronisation issue.
(That's how I find it, at least.)
Yes, I do get these. I think they're normal movements, not tics. These happen because parts of the nervous system are glitching a little as they turn off. Humans aren't the only creatures that do this. My bird also twitches as she falls asleep.
Stims are something else. They're voluntary/semivoluntary movements that can be stopped but they can start up again without you realizing it. I stim a lot, but I try to control it, often imperfectly, when I am around other people. Lately I have had a lot of stress in transitioning out of graduate school, and I have been tugging at my hair, rubbing my feet, shaking my legs and picking at my hands.

i get those, but i dont think its a tic, i think its like a reaction in ur body, something in brain is sending a wrong signal, because i know a couple ppl without tourettes or autism who get weird tic movements, more so when stressed. almost like a chill u get when u think of something thats scary ye aknow. like i said in the other tic thread, try magnesium and b12 oh and i forgot b6 also helps too, dang i knew i forgot to add something. also if u want to try to help ur eye tics easy non medication orherbal way, try puttin a warm wash cloth over ur eye for a bit, and jus lie still and relax, see if that helps. good luck
