My long term obsessive interests are: history, geography, and whatever other random, unimportant things might pop into my mind at any given moment.

My major former obsessive interest was Japanese culture/language. But I burned out on that, a while ago.

In roughly the order I fell in love with topics, with age guide lines:

Initially-age 6;
Dinosaurs, Early Earth formation, Geology in general, Trilobites, Fossils, Dinosaurs again.

Age 6-10;
Prehistoric life, Ancient human cultures, Biology in general, Mythology, Basic chemistry, Newtonian physics

Age 11-13;
Microbiology, Genetics, Evolution, Darwin, Cell structures, Electromagnetism, Light

Age 14-15;
Computer strategy games, Computer hardware, Programming, Hacking (shh), Geology, Geography, Anthropology

Age 16-17;
Role-playing games, Techno, Electronics design

Age 18-21;
Electronics, Aircraft design, Nikola Tesla, Harmonics, Psychology in general, MTG card game

Age 22-25;
My ex-wife, Industrial/EBM music/scene, Role-playing games, Witchcraft lore, Mythology again, WOW MMO, More new age random stuff, Psychology again

Age 26-28;
Philosophy, Theology, Biology again, Genetics again, Psychology again, Autism, Psychological disorders, Mnemonics, Anti-theism

Present;
Religious texts, Paleoanthropology, Religious activism agendas, Anti-theism again, Concept of free will vs determinism

There is a theme, I'm not sure what to call it though. And once I've held any specific interest listed, it has remained "interesting", just not specifically focused upon with fiery intent. For example earlier tonight I had a perfectly interesting entomological conversation for about an hour, while insects have never been a true focus of interest to me, they have been periphery of interest while focused on biology in general and still remain interesting and can hold my attention. I just don't purposefully seek out and consume data about insects etc.

Ha, I love this game I've never played!

My interests (specialist subjects, I like to call them), in order as best I can:

Psychology, Batman Comics, Drawing, the theory of life after death, the Italian Renaissance, serial killers throughout the years (I find John Wayne Gacy and Ed Gein particularly interesting), Pokemon, and computers.

it's = it is
its = belongs to it
wonder's = belongs to wonder
wonders = either the third-person singular conjugation of the verb "wonder" or the plural of the noun "wonder"

My special interests are grammar and punctuation. I am not being critical to be a jerk but because I saw your aside as a bit of a challenge. I wish I would have as many interests as you do. My interests are either in things I'm very bad at or language-related.

Nonetheless, there is a rule out there that explains something else that's interesting, although I cannot find the exact rule for some reason right now...
basically, I am bound to make some sort of a grammar/punctuation mistake simply because I am correcting your grammar/punctuation.
I am also obsessed with linguistics and feel like my life will lack real direction until I can get into UPenn...

Can one of you with the special interest in psychology direct me toward a good, engaging psychology text that's beyond the basic level? I would like to study up on it to improve my application for grad school.

I can only recall one right now, but my memory is not the best in the world, so I'll fill you in on more.

(Past) Pokemon, Ancient Egypt, Spanish language (still interested, but not an obsession anymore), (present) Orthodox Judaism; Biblical Hebrew and religious Jewish people are additional sub-obsessions, (since the age of 5 'til the present) Medical TV shows...does 'lucid dreaming' count?

I don't remember my earliest one but they start at age 3.

In order of age they are:

Celtic crosses, astronomy, ancient Egypt, Pokemon, Super Mario, Nintendo, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Marfan syndrome, classical music and composers, scientists, insects and arachnids, Pokemon again, mathematics, North (and South) Korea and other Asian cultures.

Hmm... I'm sure I missed one out. Some of these are still ongoing and I still maintain great interest in most of these. I have more but I'm not sure they can be described as obsessive.

edit: OMG! I forgot ET! How could I!? I was obsessed with ET for many of my childhood years.

Me too!

I feel like a broken record telling what my interests are. I'm sure you all know by now.

I've always loved Industrial/EBM! M:TG is also nice, but I'm a recovering addict, so no more card purchases. The addictive inks they use in those things is no joke. 8O
