I'm curious ... there is such a variety of belief on WP that I wonder who or what someone might worship, and if they worship at all.

You do not have to comment, but feel free to do so, especially if I've left out your category.

Thank you.

I voted for the universe, and/or its spirit option, even though I really wouldn't say I go as for to worship the universe as in the same sense as a religious person would worship a deity or deities. I only care about the future of the cosmos, and the future of this planet despite the fact that it seems like we as people do everything we possibly can to destroy it.

Worship is an extreme notion. I -admire- science, mathematics, abstract intelligence and flying. I think flying and proving theorems are the most exciting thing one can do with his/her clothes on.

If I recall correctly, you once accused me of worshiping maniacs, due to my interest in criminal psychology. But anyway...nah...I cannot say I really worship anything at all.

I worship myself, just like everyone else.

This question in the way it's asked is confusing.

I just said other on the polls because I'm confused as to the difference of worshipping something you believe and then something you just enjoy doing.

For me, spirituality would just be in the hope that people are doing well even though there's no well defined logic to it. So I'm not sure what worship means in this context.

I still struggle with grief and loss. So this issue is a bit perplexing to me as I don't believe in god or religion. I do however ponder about life and some of its unanswered and unresolved issues as well as it's scenic beauty and natural resources.

I do not worship, per se - I am in awe and respect the expanse of existence, of which I am a part. I do not believe in a godhead or figural representation. I don't think that religion, science or philosophy have unto themselves all the answers. I think Heinlein captured the sentiment best in "Stranger In A Strange Land" when Michael Valentine says "Thou art God." That we exist at all is remarkable, what more inspiration does one need?

Like many terms in this area "worship" is very vague. What does it mean? Does it mean a suspension of all analysis? Does it mean doing strange and cruel things like killing an animal as a sort of payment? Does it mean crawling around on hands and knees and cowering in fear? Does it mean merely great admiration? I don't know.

This pretty much takes the words out of my mouth. I am in awe of many things but I don't believe awe = worship. Although one could mount an argument using some definitions that I am incorrect but I think this would be stretching the definitions a bit far.

BTW makuransoshi in awe and respect is a tautology. Awe means to greatly respect (sometimes with a mixture of fear or surprise.)

I meant awe in terms of reverential wonder, not respect; while they can be used synonymously, that was not my intent. I agree fully that awe and worship are two entirely different concepts, but it's a semantic argument at best.

Nothing and noone. And I can't say I've got much respect for anything either.
