In local news today, a 28-year-old mother in Niederglatt, Switzerland, went for a walk with a lady friend and apparently became so engrossed in their chat that she didn’t notice her pram rolling down a slope and her baby falling into the river Glatt. When she noticed its absence, she alerted the boy’s grandfather who happened to be bicycling nearby, and he finally found the four-month-old drifting in the ice-cold water a kilometer downriver. Though an ambulance crew tried to resuscitate the baby and flew it into hospital with a helicopter, it died of exposure.

With any luck, NTs might chat themselves to extinction...

How crazy and sad.

Af first reading this, I thought it would be a cell phone. I see way too many people busy on their phones than busy talking to actual people.

How sad. I hate when NTs are so busy chatting that they don't notice what's going on around them. :x

Like when two cars will stop in the middle of the road, just so the drivers can wind down their windows and have a little gossip, oblivious to the cars trying to get home or to work or wherever. WTF is THAT all about?

I think it is sad, and the idea of NTs cting themselves to death is not funny or a in good taste. How do we know that the child did not have AS.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

Reminds me of Hook when Peter is in the buggy and his mother is busy chatting to another lady on the park bench and the wind bows and pushes the carriage and he never sees his mother again because he gets taken to Neverland by Tink.

You know, this sounds more like something an Autistic would do.

Lets say she was monologing about her special interest and so engrossed (not able to multitask) that she forgot about the baby.. hmm?

How sad for the baby, but Icheb, that comment was pretty tasteless on your part.

I guess I'm the only person who laughed at the NT-extinction comment, then...

If you can look at it from a certain, humorous perspective, then yes, it's funny. If it weren't for the circumstances under which this comment was made (the baby dying horribly because of carelessness), I would have even laughed myself.

That's very sad but it's almost funny in a sick way. Couldn't you see that being in a comedy?
