Who's ever used a pay phone?

I had to use them a few times, but all I could think about was all the germs left there by other people :P

I had to use one a few months back to let my boss know that the bus didn't show up and I was going to be late. I had to hunt for one. I really need to get a cellphone.

Never needed to use one. As long as I've been old enough to be away from home without my parents, mobile phones have been common enough that everyone has one. And if mine's out of battery then you borrow someone elses

30 years ago pay phones were commonplace. Now they are mostly in airports or train stations and sometimes in the lobbies of office buildings.

Eventually they will disappear as cell phones become well nigh universal.

there are lots of them in the city. as many as always. the old ones are replaced by ones that accept a bank/credit card apart from cash. they also sell specific phonebooth-cards, so its definitely not an extinct thing, and ive used one quite recently

Pay telephone booths are no longer
so common in my home city, but pay phones
are faifly easy to find in shopping malls,
sit-down restaurants, drinking places, and
so on. When I've had to let my mom know that
I would be later than she expected, I've used one.

I used them quite frequenlty when I was around 14. I remember the time before cell phones, when I was a kid and my dad was always having to stop and use them. (He is/was a real estate agent). I spent many childhood hours sitting on the floor of some shopping mall while my dad talked to random people about houses.
