This post spoke to me. I have been trans (female to male) since I was very little, age 5 or 6, and navigating the world is more confusing because I have to be aware of how I present myself to be seen as who I am on the inside, and manage being social and friendly with people of my chosen gender (clinicians see this as proof of your gender). Plus, gender services in the UK are trained to spot autistic patients because they don't know how autism affects gender identity, so that is another barrier to accessing healthcare. Thanks for your article.

I have long hair nowadays (although with an undercut) and wear at least one girly item of clothing when I go out. It attracts more men than just your average crazy oddball punk which gives me more choice !!!!!!

I don't mean to offend, but it seems to be that the LGBT community is not by any means normal in the same capacity as, say, straight people. Even in today's society, where people freely express their sexuality in the western world, a single gay person is spotted for at least every ten straight people. It's only human nature to not see them the same way as they would straight people, since straight people make up the mass majority.

Within regards to gender roles, I frankly do whatever the hell I want. If I want to wear something other than muscle shirts, I do it. If I want to make female video game and literature characters, I do it. If I want to cook and bake, I do it. If I want to watch television meant for girls, I do it. I honestly do not think that being attractive is a good enough reason to change my ways. I don't need friends, and whoever wants to date me will have to accept all of me, not just the facade I may put up.

Gender rolls seem to be melding together, except for red necks, KKK, SkinHeads & neo-nazis , you know, the ones who are totally uncomfortable with their own selves.
And yes, there are many LGBT folks on the Spectrum.
We are just spread out all over the place.
