Some confusion could be the US use of the word Liberal has diverged from the original meaning and in the US the Liberals are the left.

In Australia the Liberal party is more Conservative even monachist, but with some classical liberalism (albeit with strict immigration policy).

Canada is considered Left because Trudeau is or aims to be. He plays this left identiarian 'progressive' politics that is ever popular. But it is not really progressive or liberal at all. His father was just as much a populist. Authoritarianism exists on both sides of the political divide. You can u...

I think US citizens have little idea of what socialised healthcare is because they have never experienced it. Yet many are quite happy to back other public institutions like a bloated military, who have almost carte blanche funding and are well known for wasting money (even if you support a strong m...

In Westen Europe there was long standing religious conflict due to religion being a state affair, which wasn't resolved during The Reformation. As a consequence of that, religious minorities went to the New World including fundamentalist puritans. In fact sometimes they were forced to go. While the ...

My anecdotal experience is religious autistics either like the rules, structure and ritual of religion or have schizitotopal traits or combination of both. Also rigid thinking can be a factor, especially if been engrained from.a young age. Another aspect is social isolation and parental influence ca...

IQ doesn't prevent cognitive dissonance and magical thinking. I agree with Robert Sapolsky Magical thinking is within the schizotypal spectrum. This doesn't nessisarily mean clinically mentally ill. This could be more common than not in general population, by definition 'normal'. There is some evide...

Just to put this to bed redundant /rɪˈdʌnd(ə)nt/ 1. adjective not or no longer needed or useful; superfluous. 2. BRIT.ISH English. no longer in employment because there is no more work available. 3. ( of words or data ) able to be omitted without loss of meaning or function. I think in schools somet...

Naturalplastic not to be a stickler but there is also a variant that means surplus to requirements. E.g. being made redundant or losing your job. That doesn't mean the job still exists in the entire economy. In IT redundancy means additional copies (whether or not they are all currently used). As we...

A worry I have is that Aphantasia may become a fad. I don't wish to be a gatekeeper and I am sure it is a spectrum, however I don't want for it to be trivialised especially not the learning/cognitive challenges as a result of having it. Maybe I am being silly, I don't know. Anything about perception...

With me it's no images, smells, sounds, taste or touch. I had known I wasn't able to visualise for years, but had thought that was the norm. Same. In 2005 I did a guided imagery relaxation course at the mental health centre. We had to listen to a tape of a beach scene and imagine the sounds etc while ...

I have aphantasia and a UK citizen. I described it in detail to doctors and others way before I had heard the word aphantasia. None of them were interested, Including the Maudsley Hospital that diagnosed me as AS. I described it on WP years ago, some of my earliest posts. I described it to neuropsyc...

I have my ideal partner. However, I think topics like this can be somewhat counter productive if taken at face value. Only experiencing a stable relationship can give you a sense of who is a good fit. Many people have plenty of experience but they haven't had a sense of balance in their relationship...

We are somewhat beating a dead horse here twilight had every right to report the behaviour, and as a customer not have to deal it I'n the interests of understanding there seems be some confusion between criminal and civil definition of harassment. In most places the crime of harassment involves a re...

You're obviously not active much lately here.
This is the Court of Aspie Opinion, where nothing is completely settled until a mod locks the thread.

Why are you attacking ME? I don't make the rules (well, not all of them, anyway). I'm not attacking you. Why do you think that? Couldn't be further from the truth. Just replying Btw the point was actually about: Just because it is common for upgrades to requiring approval doesn't mean you know if t...
