Some have said that if the universe is infinite than there should be an infinite number of copies of us.

This isn't necessarily the case. A set of even numbers is infinite, but doesn't contain any odd numbers or anything other than numbers.

The reason that we have leap years is because otherwise the seasons would start drifting. Eventually North America would have Christmas in the summer and Australia would have Christmas in the winter if it weren't for leap years.
