I’m unable to take public transit alone. I get meltdowns and panic attacks and I don’t know what to do. I get lost easily and walk into traffic. I’m an elopement risk. My problem solving is poor so I can’t figure out what to do if I run into trouble. I didn't know that other high-functioning autist... |

What I don't understand is that people online seem to relate Level 1 Autism to be the equivalent of having Aspergers, but I was told different by this professional. I am kinda finding this all hard to navigate, as if it was something worth worrying about then why Level 1. Just seems like a nothing ... |

I like to sit in my room alone in the dark. I don’t really like the lights on. |

In the evaluation, I had the autistic spectrum, but I am not an aspie because my intelligence is borderline, but my autism is mild. What would be the old name of this mild autism Likely PDD-nos. Maybe HFA but apparently that's not a diagnosis. I'm also not sure that you need above average intellige... |

Have you noticed that there are rarely any posts about hyposensitivity and autism? There are lots of posts about being sensitive to noise, smells etc. Where are the people who get burned because they can't sense heat very well? Where are the people who crave motion and want to be on trampolines all... |

Autistic Disorder under the DSM-IV, probably. What do you mean when you say you have “borderline” intelligence? Most likely, Autistic Disorder, albeit mild. I have low average intelligence and no speech delay but I had an Autistic Disorder, moderate, diagnosis. I think borderline intelligence is an... |

I'm the opposite. I feel overwhelmed since I have too many choices so I just end up playing video games to distract me from my anxiety. |

Yes, I'm 27 and look like I'm 14 (literally been told this by people whom I've asked to guess my age). My parents still treat me like a little kid who needs help with everything, but don't treat my younger sister that way. People generally, when being introduced to me, adopt that slow, high pitched... |

I'm pretty oblivious to peer pressure however I can be manipulated easily due to vulnerability caused by my autism. I don't know what groupthink is. |

I was wondering what other people use. Currently, I only use ear muffs. What do you guys use to help prevent meltdowns and general sensory issues? Ear muffs, noise-canceling headphones, prescription sunglasses, weighted blankets, chewy items, Transitions lenses in my glasses, sensory toys, music, s... |
